The First Annual Retreat of the Province of Chennai was organized at Claretians-LIFE, Nochiodaipatty, Dindigul, Tamilnadu from 14 – 18 February 2023. There were 32 participants for the retreat. The preacher for the retreat was Rev. Fr. Joe Antony SJ. It was meaningful and inspiring one. The whole retreat was based on the Gospel passage of Luke 24: 13 – 35. The three pillars of retreat were solitude, silence and prayer. The retreat began with an experience of losses of Emmaus Disciples. They underwent physical losses, psychological losses and spiritual losses.They finally recognised the risen Lord and bore witness. Based on this passage, the resources and characteristics are derived for a good priest. In short I can describe the retreat in three words – Communion, Community and Mission. The communion with God through Eucharist and other spiritual activities must lead us to communion with community and communion with community in turn must lead us to mission or communion with mission.
