Claretian Provincial House is the mother house for the Claretians who belong to the Province of Chennai. Originally the Provincial Curia was functioning from 1987 at Claret Bhavan, Karumathur. Then the community was shifted to AJ 3, 4th Avenue, Anna Nagar, Chennai. The Claretian Provincial House, Chennai was founded in 1994 with the status of a house under the juridical territory of Archdiocese Madras-Mylapore. Then it was shifted from Anna Nagar to Lakshmipuram, West Tambaram in April, 1999 in view of constructing Provincial House building in Bharathi Nagar, West Tambaram.


The community began its life and mission from April 30th 2002 in the new building. Officially, the new Provincial House was inaugurated on 23rd August 2002. Eminent Cardinal Simon Lourdusamy blessed the house while Fr. Maria Arul CMF, the then Vicar General inaugurated it. As the Diocese of Chennai-Mylapore was bifurcated, the community came under the jurisdiction of Chingleput Diocese and Rev. Dr. Neethinathan is the first and present Bishop of this diocese. The specific mission of this community is to facilitate the administration of the Provincial Curia and it also has the associated ministries like Claretian Communications, Mission Procura, Tamil Community Bible Project, Claret Complex and St. Claret Kids Paradise.
