Solidarity & Mission (SoMi) Meeting at LIFE Centre, Nochiodaipatti

Dindigul, 12th December 2024: The Solidarity & Mission (SoMi) meeting was held at the LIFE Centre in Nochiodaipatti, Dindigul, bringing together Claretians from various missions to reflect and engage on the theme “Claretian Mission at the UN: Bridging Global Goals with Grassroot Actions.”

The gathering was enriched by the presence of distinguished resource persons: Fr. Antonio Liamas, CMF, General Secretary of JPIC (Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation), Fr. Rosari, CMF, Claretian Representative for the United Nations(UN), and Fr. Henry Ramirez, CMF, Claretian Assistant Representative for the UN. Their presentations emphasized the identity, structure, and core characteristics of SoMi, highlighting its mission to bridge grassroots actions with global goals.

A key focus of the session was the Claretians active presence at the UN, serving as a voice for marginalized communities worldwide. The resource team shed light on the unique role of Claretians in amplifying the struggles and aspirations of the vulnerable, fostering global solidarity through advocacy and collaboration.

The meeting saw the participation of 20 Claretian priests and a Claretian student, along with the resource team. Fr. Santiago, CMF, the Superior of the LIFE Centre, welcomed the participants, setting a reflective tone for the discussions. The session concluded with a note of gratitude by Fr. V. Michael Francis, CMF, Prefect of Apostolate, who acknowledged the contributions of the participants and the resource persons in making the SoMi meeting a meaningful and inspiring event.

This event marked another significant step in reinforcing the Claretian commitment to justice, peace, and grassroots mission, aligning with global efforts for a more inclusive and sustainable world.
