Fr. L. John CMF was one among the eight sons of his parents. He joined Postulancy at Claret Bhavan, Karumathur in 1982 and made his first profession on 31st May, 1987. After completing his philosophical studies from 1987 to 1990 in Karumathur, Tamil Nadu and theological studies in Morning Star College, Claret Nivas, Barrackpore, West Bengal, he was ordained on 3rd May, 1998.
Fr. John was a man of availability with helping mentality. He was a committed missionary always ready to go to different religious communities and the parishes for celebrating Eucharist in times of need and emergency. He had cultivated the quality of simplicity from the initial formation onwards. He was well known among women religious for his dedicated service.
In June 20, 2017 he was appointed as the Assistant Parish Priest and econome of Claret Arulagam, Moonandipatti in Madurai Diocese, Tamil Nadu. This was the final mission in his life. On 20th October, 2017 he was getting ready for morning prayer but the uneasiness he had had felt led him to lie down on his cot for a while and there he breathed his last with a massive heart attack. His body was taken to Claret Illam, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu and buried after the funeral mass attended by his family members, Claretian Missionaries and his friends on 21st October, 2017.
