When Tsunami hit the Indian coastal area in 2004, the Province of Chennai really responded to the calamity with great concern. Kanyakumari was one of the districts which was affected badly. Many people had lost their lives and homes. As rehabilitation venture, the Province of Chennai started to construct homes in many parts of Tamilnadu coast through the projects. One among them was done in Kanyakumari Parish. In course of time, the Claretian Province of Chennai felt to have a community which can facilitate the pastoral need of the people and other social emancipatory projects. So, a house was constructed and opened on 31St January, 2010 with the name ‘Casa Claret’.
After few years of our collaboration with the pastoral care of the Kanyakumari Parish, the Province decided to find new ministries to Casa Claret. One of them was foot reflexology (the alternative healing therapy), started in 2014. The community after the small beginning witnessed a great healing ministry through this therapy. It has now become a centre of alternative therapy (Reflexology). The community is happy that 80 to 100 people are treated per week with the help of four trained staff (therapists). There is always an increase of people for treatment every time. There seem to be lots of attraction for alternative therapy and the people appreciate it wholeheartedly.
The community has also planned to conduct periodically a course on Reflexology, since many are interested to learn. The community planned to have a full-fledged healing centre, which was blessed by Most Rev. Remigius D.D., the Bishop Emeritus of Kottar and foundation stone laid by MR. Astin, the local MLA of Kanyalkumari constituency on 28th January, 2020. The other ministry of the community is Play School for the kids, which will be started very soon in this academic year.
This center is called as Claret Spiritual, Physical and Psychological (Counseling) Healing center. This center is promoting and organizing popular mission preaching for the province level.
At present we go to different parishes and dioceses to conduct charismatic prayer services for three days and festive preaching too.
